FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Lauren Coe shot a 2-under-par 70, and
Ariana Macioce carded a 72 as the Georgia Southern women's golf team moved up three spots to 11th place in the second round Monday at Amelia Island National Golf Club.
After two rounds of play today, GS (+34) is a stroke behind Sam Houston State (+33) and four behind Samford (+30) for ninth. The Eagles are seven shots behind a three-team logjam tied for sixth.
Macioce (+5) is tied for 18th after shooting 77-72. Coe,
Iben Hvass and
Ansley Bowman are all +11, and
Yeji Shin is +16.
Taylor Thompson, who is playing as an individual this week, shot 81-82.
The story
Coe heated up in her second round, posting a team-leading five birdies. She made par or better with two birdies on seven straight holes in the middle of the round and finished with a flurry, playing the final five holes of the day 3-under for a 70.
Macioce scored par or better with three birdies on her first 13 holes in the second round, and a birdie on hole 1 moved her to 3-under. She also parred the last three holes of the day for a 72.
