STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving travels to Athens, Georgia this week for the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Swimming & Diving Championships. The meet will be held on the campus of the University of Georgia at the Gabrielson Natatorium. Georgia Southern finished third in last year's CCSA Championships, earning five podium finishes over the four nights of competition. The Eagles totaled 925 points to best Gardner-Webb by 27 points and claim third place.
The meet will be the final collegiate competition for Georgia Southern's lone senior,
Anna Battistello. Her program includes the 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Last year the native of Holland, Michigan placed 11th in the 100 Backstroke and was a member of the Eagles' fourth place 200 Medley Relay squad.
Georgia Southern's divers enter Championships with some of the league's best scores in the regular season.
Gretchen Mossburg has the second-best score on the 3-meter board while Marykiah Davis ranks second on the 1-meter board entering this week's meet. The meet's second event is the 3-meter diving on Wednesday night with the 1-meter diving event scheduled for Friday.
The meet begins with two relays and a diving event on Wednesday evening. The final three days of competition begin with prelims at 10 a.m., followed by nightly finals at 6 p.m. For more information about the CCSA Championships, visit TheCCSA.com.
