STATESBORO, Ga. – For the second consecutive year in a row, the Georgia Southern Cross Country team was named part of the 2016 Academic All-American list. Overall there were 431 teams that earned distinction from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their efforts in the classroom and athletically on the trails.

The Eagles joined a list of 242 women's teams that were named to this honor. Only eight teams from the Sun Belt conference were recognized for their efforts in the classroom by the USTFCCCA during the 2016 season.

The Eagles posted a 3.22 combined GPA during the 2016 cross country season. The blue and white not only excelled in the classroom this past season, but also on the trails posting three top three finishes and a victory during the first three meets of the year. They would conclude the season finshing seventh in the Sun Belt conference.
