STATESBORO, Ga. – The Sun Belt Conference named Georgia Southern's Jamelia Owens its Women's Field Athlete of the Week. This award is voted on by the coaches of Sun Belt track and field teams each week. 
 
Owens placed second in the shot put at the UNCG Dual Meet Madness last weekend, with a measurement of 14.69m. Her toss broke a school record and her previous best of 13.35m, as well as helped her place seventh in the conference.
 
The track and field team will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, February 10th, to compete in the Samford Invite and Multi. This will be the final meet before the Sun Belt Indoor Championships on February 20th and 21st, in Birmingham, Alabama.
