STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's basketball team will host Kennesaw State in an 11 a.m. contest tomorrow as the Eagles sponsor their third annual School Field Trip Day at Hanner Fieldhouse.
More than 2,000 elementary and middle school students are expected for the contest, which features a pair of in-state rivals who are meeting for the first time since 2014. Students are expected from William James Middle School, Mill Creek Elementary School, Statesboro High School, Southeast Bulloch Middle School, Transition Learning Center, Brooklet Elementary School, Nevils Elementary School, Portal Middle School, Langston Chapel Elementary School and Langston Chapel Middle School.
On the court, Georgia Southern looks to get back on the winning track after falling by a 62-38 score at UCF on Sunday. The Eagles (3-5) start a three-game Holiday homestand on Friday, hoping to climb back above .500 before beginning Sun Belt play on December 29th. Head Coach Kip Drown is 3-2 in non-conference December games at the helm of Georgia Southern.
Kennesaw State (3-7) comes to Statesboro after suffering a 66-56 loss at East Carolina on December 4th. The Owls are led by Kamiyah Street, who averages 15.1 points per game. This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools, with KSU holding a 3-1 series edge. The last meeting in the series came on Nov. 22, 2014, with Kennesaw State winning 72-51.
