STATESBORO, Ga. – As the fall season begins to heat up for the Eagles, they head up the road to compete in the Mercer Gridiron Classic. The Eagles had last weekend off, allowing them to prepare for their second tournament of the season.

The Blue and White finished the first day of play going 5-2 in doubles play. Artemie Amari and Santiago Suarez looked great as doubles partners on Friday. Diego Finkelstein and Eddie Landin fell behind early, but were able to get the much needed victory when it came time. Stefano Di Aloy and JC Alcala were the only two Eagles to play in singles play on Friday, which will allow for fresh legs heading into day two.

WHAT HEAD COACH SANDER KONING SAID
"We played 7 doubles matches today, going 5-2. Artemie and Santiago were focused and seemed to be in sync together. Diego and Eddie had a rough start but were able to pick their game up when it mattered. In singles Stefano and JC played today. They looked a little rusty, but were able to work their way through the match. Tomorrow will be a tough day. Everybody will play a lot and its days like these why we put in all our conditioning efforts. We look forward to the challenge."

The Eagles will begin day two at 9:00 a.m. in Macon, Georgia with all the Eagles competing on the day.
