• Georgia Southern opens the 2017-18 campaign with an exhibition game against Georgia College in Hanner Fieldhouse. Admission to the contest is free.

• The Eagles have been one of the youngest teams in the country the last two years, and for the second year in a row, Georgia Southern returns 94 percent of its scoring and all five starters. A number of college basketball publications are predicting Georgia Southern to be one of the top teams in the conference and placing junior guards Tookie Brown and Ike Smith on their preseason All-Sun Belt teams. Matt Norlander ranked all 351 Division I teams on CBSSports.com and put the Eagles 89th, calling them the top team in the Sun Belt.

• The Eagles and Bobcats have met just once on the hardwood, an 80-78 GS victory in Hanner Fieldhouse in 1993.

• The Bobcats went 15-13 in 2016-17 and return their top-five scorers from last season, led by junior Isaac Thomas at 10.7 points per contest. Nearly averaging a double-double at 8.1 rebounds per game, Thomas was the 2015-16 Peach Belt Conference Co-Freshman of the Year.

• Georgia Southern season tickets, which are good for both men's and women's basketball home games, start as low as $90 and can be purchased at GSEagles.com/tickets.

• Georgia Southern and Augusta will square off in a charity exhibition men's basketball contest to raise awareness and financial support for hurricane relief efforts Friday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse. Proceeds from the "Storm the Berry" game will be donated to the American Red Cross to assist victims of the recent hurricanes that have occurred recently in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

• General admission is $10. AU and Georgia Southern students are free of charge with a valid university ID, while non-Augusta and Georgia Southern students, senior citizens and military are $5 at the main entrance. Children six and under are free of charge. There will be "Storm the Berry" adidas t-shirts on sale at the game, with all proceeds also going to the American Red Cross. Fans can donate to the cause online at Give.GSEagles.com/Hurricane or by sending a check to the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation (GSUAF, PO Box 8115, Statesboro, GA 30460). Make out the check to GSUAF, and in the memo portion, put Basketball Hurricane Relief.
