Georgia Southern travels to Winthrop for a non-conference contest Monday at 6 p.m. in the Winthrop Coliseum.
Winthrop leads the all-time series 6-5 and won the last meeting 3-1 in the 2015 SpringHill Suites Bash in the Boro in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Georgia Southern is coming off a 4-0 weekend at the Bash in the Boro.The Eagles won the tournament by topping The Citadel 3-2 in Saturday's championship match. It's the Eagles' first tournament win since they won the 2013 Southern Conference Championship.
Katie Bange was named the tournament MVP, while Alex Beecher and Cathrine Murray joined the senior on the all-tournament team.
Bange averaged 3.71 kills, 4.21 assists, 1.71 digs and 0.86 blocks per set. She notched her first triple double with 15 kills, 18 assists and 10 digs to go along with four blocks against Charleston Southern. Bange posted a career-high 21 kills as well as 17 assists, nine digs and five blocks in the championship match against The Citadel.
Beecher averaged 5.00 digs per set and had five service aces, 14 assists and two kills in the four matches. The senior logged 26 digs, four assists, two kills, and two aces in the championship match against The Citadel. It was her 36th career match with 20-plus digs. Already Georgia Southern's career leader in digs, she needs 141 to reach the 2,000 mark.
Murray went over 500 kills for her career after the first day of the tournament and finished the weekend with 46 kills, 31 digs and seven blocks for the weekend.
The Eagles host another tournament in Hanner Fieldhouse this weekend. Georgia Southern welcomes Buffalo, South Carolina and Wake Forest to Statesboro for the SpringHill Suites Invitational.
