NEW ORLEANS, La. – Georgia Southern men's soccer defender Justin Little has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week it was released by the conference office Tuesday morning. Little was an instrumental part of the back row as the Eagles went 1-1 over the first weekend of the season.

Little, a 5-11 true freshman from Warner Robins, Georgia, played all 90 minutes of both of the Eagles' matches at the Houston Baptist Tournament over the weekend and was a key component to Georgia Southern's defense that allowed just two goals on the weekend. Little also had an assist and took two shots.

In the Eagles' season opener, a 4-1 victory over Houston Baptist, Little earned his first collegiate state and was a strong presence on the back row as the Eagles conceded just one goal. In that game, Little assisted on the game's first goal in the 11^th minute as he sent a pass to junior midfielder Thor Sveinbjornsson who was able to find forward Blake Wilson for the go-ahead goal. Little also took a pair of shots in the match. On Sunday, Little once again was in the Eagles' starting rotation and continued to help shore up the left side of the Eagles' back row despite falling 1-0 to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Once again, the freshman played all 90 minutes of the game.

Georgia Southern will continue their season-opening road swing with a trek down into Florida this coming weekend. GS will first play at Stetson on Friday, September 2. The match against the Hatters is slated to kick off at 7 p.m. The Eagles will then travel to Jacksonville to take on the Dolphins of Jacksonville University on Sunday, Sept. 4. That game's first kick is scheduled for 5 p.m.
