STATESBORO, Ga. - Paint the Town Blue starts Wednesday, Aug. 24 with the True Blue Spirit Competition and runs through the first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 3. The week-long event is designed to get all of Statesboro involved in the celebration of the beginning of the 2016 football season and for businesses and campus departments and members of the community to show their support of Georgia Southern University.

• Categorized into local businesses and campus departments.

• Prizes will be given out to the top three (3) from each category. Businesses and campus departments should focus on exhibiting True Blue spirit because this is what they will be judged closely on. The business and campus department whose décor shows the most True Blue spirit will take first place.
   • First place will be recognized at the first home football game and receive four free tickets and a parking pass to the game
   • Second place will receive two free tickets to the first home game
   • Third place will receive two free tickets to the first home game

• Businesses and campus departments are encouraged to decorate as much as possible which may or may not include store fronts, windows, yards, office space, countertops, etc. Remember, judging is based on True Blue spirit so no work area is too small to decorate

• We strongly encourage organizations with marquee boards, windows, etc to put Paint the Town Blue and our hashtag for the first football game, Tame the Tigers. You should know the rest of our slogans!

• Although having a Paint the Town Blue sign is not required, they may help your chances of winning first place. Signs can be purchased from the Georgia Southern Athletic Marketing Department office by calling 912-478-1235 for $15 each.

• Please make sure to sign up to ensure your place of business or campus department is judged for the competition.
