Players Returning
The Warhawks have 36 letterwinners returning from last season, while also losing 26 letterwinners. New head coach Matt Viator loses only two offensive starters, but will need new faces to step up defensively as he loses eight starters from last season. The Warhawks lose their top three tacklers from last year including leading tackler Hunter Kissinger (133 total tackles). UL Monroe will look to lean on the nine offensive starters returning which includes key players such as last season's leading rusher Ben Luckett (12 GP, 94-509 yds, 5.4 avg, 2 TDs). Sophomore quarterback Garrett Smith will look to build on his freshman campaign (10 GP, 2,033 yds, 17 TDs-11 INTs, 57.4 pct) and will look toward his two best statistical receivers who both return. Sophomore Marcus Green (12 GP, 63-698 yds, 11.1 avg, 7 TDs) and Senior Ajalen Holley (12 GP, 60-709 yds, 11.8 avg, 6 TDs) paired up to lead the team receiving and look to post even larger numbers in the 2016 season. With only two starters returning on defense, the experience of safety Tre Hunter (55 total tackles, 2 INTs) will be relied upon heavily and he is the best returning defender statistically.
