CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) has named Georgia Southern's Ariana Macioce an All-American Scholar.

In her freshman season, Macioce logged two top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place outing at the Fighting Camel Classic Oct. 20, the program's first top-10 and top-5 individual finish. She was in the lineup for nine of 10 tournaments, including all six in the spring, and was second on the team with a 76.88 scoring average. Macioce has a 3.88 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in management.

A total of 828 women's collegiate golfers across all divisions were recognized with this prestigious honor.  The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, and the minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

The Eagles took fourth at the Sun Belt Championship last April in their first year of competition. Georgia Southern returns five letterwinners, including Macioce, to the 2016-17 team.
