NORMAN, Okla. – The Georgia Southern men's golf team was named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team after posting a team grade point average of 3.34 for the 2015-16 academic year.
It was the highest GPA in program history and the highest of the Eagle male sports programs last season.
The GCAA named
Cody O'Toole a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar earlier in the month after he finished the year with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average in finance.
Crawford Simmons was named to the Georgia Southern President's List for posting a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the spring, while O'Toole and
Archer Price were named to the Dean's List (3.5-3.99 GPA).
Andrew Klasing,
Henry Mabbett,
Jake Storey and
Jonas Vaisanen were named to the Honor Roll (3.0-3.49 GPA).
The Eagles won The Invitational at the Ocean Course, posted seven top-seven team finishes and notched an 81-59 overall record in 2015-16.
Steven Fisk was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and returns to the 2016-17 squad along with O'Toole, Price, Simmons, Storey and Vaisanen.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
