STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving's Emma Weisel and Mykala Arnold have been named as honorable mentions to the 2016 College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American Team.

To be eligible for inclusion on the team, student-athletes must earn a 3.50 or higher GPA and excel in the pool, posting an NCAA Championships "B" qualifying time or better. In total, more than 1,700 male and female student-athletes across NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA levels earned the honor in 2016.

Mykala Arnold's freshman campaign in 2016 featured three All-CCSA finishes, placing third in the 200 Back, 400 Free Relay and 800 Free Relay. She posted three individual school records, breaking the records in the 200 IM, 100 Back and 200 Back. A nursing major, Arnold earned a spot on the President's List in both the fall and spring semesters with a 4.0 GPA

Emma Weisel closed her career with the Eagles in 2016 by winning both the 1M and 3M diving events at the CCSA Championships. The 2016 CCSA Female Diver of the Year was the first Eagle diver to win an event at the league championships and closed her career with school records on both the 1M and 3M boards. Majoring in exercise science, Weisel was named to the Dean's List in the fall of 2015 and the President's List in the spring of 2016.
