Top Players Returning
Appalachian State comes to Statesboro with 47 returning lettermen, losing 23 to graduation. The Mountaineers return 18 of 26 starters from last season, including senior running back Marcus Cox. Cox (12 GP, 243-1427 yds, 9 TDs) joined the Eagles' Matt Brieda last season as a candidate for the Doak Walker Award, leading the Mountaineers in rushing offense each of the last three seasons. Leading the offense is quarterback Taylor Lamb. Lamb (13 GP, 2,387 yds, 31 TDs-9 INTs, 60.1 pct) is set to be a four-year starter at quarterback, entering his junior season. Lamb's leading returning receiver is junior Shaedon Meadors (11 GP, 21-439 yds, 20.9 avg, 3 TDs). Meadors finished third on the team in receptions and receiving yards.
