Players Returning
The Western Michigan Broncos will be looking to go bowling for the third straight season for the first time in program history, one season after getting the program's first bowl win. Leading the offense will be senior quarterback Zach Terrell. Terrell (13 GP, 3,526 yds, 29 TDs-9 INTs, 67.0 pct) finished seventh in the nation in quarterback efficiency with a 162.3 mark. Joining Terrell in the backfield is the 2015 leading rusher for the Broncos, sophomore running back Jamauri Bogan (13 GP, 162-1051 yds, 6.5 Avg, 16 TDs). Bogan earned the Popeye's Bahamas Bowl MVP after rushing for 215 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries. Junior cornerback Darius Phillips (13 GP, 48 total tackles, 5 INTs, 2 FF, 1 FR) returns after leading the team in interceptions last season, including one for a touchdown. Phillips also returned kicks for the Broncos, returning 36 kicks for an average of 23.2 yards and a touchdown. Junior safety Asantay Brown (13 GP, 103 total tackles, 2 INTs, 2 FF, 1 FR) led the team in total tackles last season.
