Eagle Baseball in The Pros – June 16 Update

Five former players at AA or AAA level

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Baseball currently has eight former players playing in the minor leagues with five at the AA or AAA level. Chris Beck (Chicago White Sox), Victor Roache (Milwaukee Brewers) and Sam Howard (Colorado Rockies) are each ranked in the top-25 prospects for their respective organizations.

Chris Beck
RHP | AAA | Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox)

Chris Beck has started seven games this season for the Charlotte Knights. He has a 4-3 record with a 4.70 ERA. Beck's last win came against Syracuse on June 1st. Beck is currently ranked as the No. 15 prospect in the White Sox Organization by MLB.com.

Matt Murray
RHP | AAA | Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City Royals)

After spending the first two months of the season on the Restricted List, Matt Murray was activated on June 3rd by the Omaha Storm Chasers. He has pitched four times this season, posting a 1-1 record.

Victor Roache
LF | AA | Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers)

Victor Roache opened his fourth season of pro ball in 2016 and is hitting .243 with a .412 slugging percentage. He has reached base at a .337 clip in 51 games. Roache is currently ranked as the No. 25 prospect in the Brewers Organization by MLB.com.

Sam Howard
LHP | AA | Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies)

Sam Howard kicked off his 2016 season with the Advanced-A Modesto Nuts. After 11 starts and 2.47 ERA, Howard was promoted to the AA Hartford Yard Goats on June 9th. He worked six and a third innings in his first outing in the Eastern League. Howard is currently ranked as the No. 23 prospect in the Rockies Organization by MLB.com.

Jason Richman
LHP | AA | Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Rangers)

The 2016 season has seen Jason Richman pitch for the Hickory Crawdads (A), High Desert Mavericks (Advanced A) and Frisco RoughRiders (AA) before returning to Extended Spring Training. On June 15th he returned to Frisco for the second time this season, pitching 1.2 innings without allowing a hit. Overall he is 1-0 in 11 total appearances over 16.0 innings with a 2.81 ERA.

Eric Alonzo
RHP | ADV-A | Inland Empire 66ers (Los Angeles Angels)
 
Eric Alonzo opened the season with the Burlington Bees where he recorded a 0.88 ERA in 30.2 innings. On May 26th he was moved to Advanced-A Inland Empire 66ers where he has pitched in five games with a 3.86 ERA out of the bullpen.

Josh Wirsu
RHP | ADV-A | Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals)

Josh Wirsu has pitched three times in 2016 out of the bullpen for the Palm Beach Cardinals. On April 29th, he landed on the disabled list.

Aaron Mizell
OF | ADV-A | Lancaster JetHawks (Houston Astros)

Aaron Mizell was promoted from the Quad Cities River Bandits (A) to the Lancaster JetHawks (Advanced A) on May 31st after 39 games. He is hitting .239 overall with a pair of home runs for the JetHawks. He is slugging .400 overall this season.
