STATESBORO, GA.
– Georgia Southern Baseball closes out an eight-game road swing on Tuesday night at North Florida. The Eagles are back home on Wednesday night at close out a two-day series with the Ospreys at J.I. Clements Stadium. Both games start at 6 p.m. with radio coverage on the Georgia Southern Sports Network from Learfield Sports.

QUICK HITS
• Georgia Southern Baseball handed first place South Alabama its first series loss in Sun Belt play last weekend and faces North Florida twice this week. The Eagles look to snap a run of three-straight defeats to the Ospreys and improve on the 8-12 series record against UNF.
• Georgia Southern ranks fourth nationally in sacrifice bunts with 63 this season. CJ Brazil ranks fourth with 14 this season, while Evan McDonald is 11th with 13. Brazil trails first place in the category by two bunts, trailing Washington's Jack Meggs.
• Georgia Southern's pitching staff is one of the best in the league, ranking first in hits allowed (6.91) and third in the nation. The Eagles are 23rd nationally and second in the Sun Belt in WHIP with a 1.22 rating.
• Georgia Southern is fifth in the Sun Belt Standings with just three league games remaining. The Eagles are 14-13 on the year entering the bye week from league play. The league's top eight teams earn a trip to the Sun Belt Tournament in San Marcos, Texas.
• For Georgia Southern, the magic number is six. The Eagles are 19-2 this season when scoring six or more runs. Over the past five season the Eagles are a combined 111-19 including 31 wins in 2014.


FOUR EAGLES EARN THEIR DEGREES
• One day after the close of the South Alabama series, four Eagles were awarded their degrees in a special commencement ceremony, officiated by interim president Dr. Jean Bartels.
Ryan Frederick, Drew Kelley, Kent Rollins and Hunter Thomas each graduated with a GPA over 3.0 and received the Athletic Foundation's Academic Excellence Ring for their achievement.


SOUTHERN TAKES SERIES WIN OVER JAGUARS
• Georgia Southern handed first place South Alabama its first series loss in league play with wins on Friday and Saturday.
• The Eagles manufactured a run in the 10th inning with the help of a throwing error to take the 4-3 win. Landon Hughes gave up a run off three hits in the 9th, but worked a perfect 10th frame to secure the win.
• On Saturday night the Eagles were sparked by a fourth inning Ryan Cleveland grand slam en route to the 11-9 win. Ryan Frederick threw three innings of one-hit ball while allowing just one run to take   his first win of the year.


EAGLES PARTNER WITH VS. CANCER FOUNDATION
• Georgia Southern hosted its second Vs. Cancer Day on April 3rd, raising funds and awareness for the Vs. Cancer Foundation to help combat children's cancer.
• The Eagles surpassed their goal of raising $8,000 for the foundation by gathering more than $11,000.

IN THE CLASSROOM
• The Georgia Southern baseball team posted a 3.25 GPA in the fall semester, its highest semester GPA in program history.
• 28 of the Eagles were on the honor roll with 12 on the Dean's List and 3 on the President's List.

CHRIS BECK

Chris made his major league debut on May 28, 2015 with the White Sox at Baltimore. He earned his first win of 2016 on 4/20, going six against Norfolk. He is 2-2 in 2016 in six appearances.

MATT MURRAY (2009-11) // AAA // Omaha Storm Chasers (Kansas City Royals)
Matt is currently on the restricted list while he serves a suspension.

VICTOR ROACHE (2010-12) // AA // Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers)
Victor is hitting .265 this year with three-hit games on 4/19 and 4/20. The Shuckers play five games in Jacksonville on May 9-13.

ERIC ALONZO (2014) // A // Burlington Bees (Los Angeles Angels)
With seven relief appearances in the books, Alonzo has worked 19.2 innings without allowing a run and scattering 11 hits with 26 strikeouts.

JOSH WIRSU (2014) // ADV-A // Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals)
Has pitched three times in relief this season, most recently on April 27, going 1.0 innings against Bradenton.

SAM HOWARD (2012-14) // ADV-A // Modesto Nuts (Colorado Rockies)
Sam is 1-1 this year in six starts, fanning 30 batters. He earned his win vs. the Stockton Ports (4/14/16).

AARON MIZELL (2014-15) // A // Quad City River Bandits (Houston Astros)
Aaron is currently hitting .241 in 22 games this season with a .664 OPS, tagging nine extra base hits.

JASON RICHMAN (2013-15) // Extended Spring Training
Jason was reassigned from the Hickory Crawdads to Extended Spring Training on April 26.


COMING UP NEXT
Georgia Southern will welcome the nationally ranked Clemson to Statesboro for a three-game non-conference series. First pitch on Friday and Saturday night is set for 7 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium with the Sunday finale set for 1 p.m.
