STATESBORO, Ga.- The Georgia Southern track and field team heads over to Lafayette, Louisiana for the Sun Belt's Outdoor Championships May 13-15. This year's event is hosted by the Ragin' Cajuns with action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
"I look forward to competing at the Outdoor Conference Championship," head coach
Kelly Carter said. "I hope that our team can have some strong performances like we did at the Indoor Championships."
Day one kicks off at 9 a.m. C.T. and includes the hammer throw and the 10,000 meter run in the all-day lineup. On day two, events last until 9 p.m. C.T. with Georgia Southern competing in the long jump, shot put, high jump and 3000m steeplechase. Other preliminaries that day include the 100-meter hurdles, 400m, 100m, 800m, 400-meter hurdles and 200m. The third day features relays, the discus throw, the triple jump and the finals from Saturday's prelims.
During the Indoor Conference Championships earlier this year in Birmingham, Alabama,
Jasmin Walker captured first in the long jump and five other Eagles placed in their respective events. Throughout the outdoor season,
Rebecca Parker and
Kelsey Arnold set Georgia Southern records in the 3000 steeplechase (Parker) and the hammer throw (Arnold).
