GAME NOTES

MOBILE, Ala. – The Georgia Southern softball team will open play in the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 11 as the No. 5 seed in the eight-team tournament. The Eagles will begin the tourney against the No. 8 seed UL Monroe in the first game of the week at 11 a.m. ET (10 a.m. CT).
 
The 2016 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship will be played at Jaguar Field in Mobile Ala., and hosted by the University of South Alabama. The first two days of games will be streamed live on the Sun Belt Digital Network (free), with the Friday games and Saturday championship game being carried by ESPN3. The championship game will be played at 1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 14. Live stats of all the games will also be available via the conference office.
 
Georgia Southern (30-26, 13-11 SBC) is one of just two teams to beat every other team in the conference at least once this season, joining nationally-ranked UL Lafayette in the honor. The 2016 Eagles have also reached the 30-win mark for the 11^th time in program history and fourth time under head coach Annie Smith.
 
Earlier this season, the Eagles and Warhawks (23-32, 7-17) met in Monroe, La. with GS taking the series 2-1 by scores of 9-4, 6-1 and 3-4. The Warhawks hold the all-time series record at 2-5.
