PHILADELPHIA- The Georgia Southern track and field team finished up their last regular season event this weekend at the nationwide Penn Relays before they head to the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in two weeks. While in Philadelphia, the Eagles had a chance to go up against teams from all over the U.S. and held their own against top programs.
"It was great for our athletes to come to Philadelphia and compete in the historic Penn relays," head coach
Kelly Carter said. "They competed well and ran great. I'm very proud of them."

On Thursday, the 4x400m relay team ā that comprised of
Desiree Blunt,
Bailey Willett, Breanna Thorton and
Jillian Sloane - placed 37
th out of 81 teams and the 4x100m group- which included
Tatiyana Rayford,
Chasin Gladdis,
Desiree Blunt and
Anika Carter- placed among the top 50. In the high jump,
Keyanna Harris represented the Blue and White and took 30
th, nearing her outdoor season best which she jumped at the Lowcountry Collegiate.
Nia Hill came in 37
th in the long jump and
Kelsey Arnold threw a 49.95m hammer throw to take 12
th. Earlier this season, Arnold threw for 51.76 meters to set a new school record at the UNF Spring Break Invitational.

During the events on Friday,
Chasin Gladdis,
Desiree Blunt,
Jillian Sloane and Bailey Willet combined to take 16
th in the sprint medley while Georgia Southern's Female Athlete of the Year
Ashleigh Rasheed placed 34
th in the triple jump.

Looking forward, the Eagles compete in the outdoor conference championships Apr. 13-15 in Lafayette, Louisiana to face fellow Sun Belt teams.Ā
