STATESBORO, Ga.- The Georgia Southern track and field team is back on the road, competing this weekend at the well-regarded Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The Eagles are one of three Georgia teams, including Savannah State and Georgia Tech, traveling up north to face teams from across the country in the three-day event April 28-30.
Events run from Thursday through Saturday and include both men's and women's high school, college and elite levels. Georgia Southern is participating in the 4x100m and the 4x400m relays on Thursday and the Sprint Medley on Friday. For field events, the Eagles complete the high jump, long jump and hammer throw on Thursday and the triple jump on Friday.
This outdoor season has been highlighted with many personal bests for the Eagles, including two new school records by
Rebecca Parker in the 3000m steeplechase and
Kelsey Arnold in the hammer throw. The Penn Relays is the final competition before the team packs up and heads to the Outdoor Sun Belt Championships in Lafayette, Louisiana.
