MT. PLEASANT, S.C.- Â The Georgia Southern track and field team won a season-best four events at the Lowcountry Invitational and placed 26 in the top 10 at the Peyton Johnson Moore Track.
"We had a great meet that put us in a position to do really well in conference," head coach
Kelly Carter said. "The performances is indicative of the hard work the girls have been putting in. I am very happy with the results and proud of the team."

The events that the Eagles took first in included the discus throw, the long jump, the 100m hurdle and the 800m. In the discus,
Jamelia Owens threw for a career-best 44.07 meters. Walker recorded a 5.81m mark in the long jump, while
Tatiyana Rayford clocked in at 14.52 second in the 100m hurdles.
Bailey Willett finished the 800m in a career-best 2:14.17.

In addition, many other Eagles placed among the meet's best.
Keyanna Harris placed second in the long jump along with
Rebecca Parker who also took silver in the 3000m steeplechase. Her time of 11:26.29 beat her own school record. In the 400m hurdle,
Mecca Day and
Rian Mobley-Luke took fourth and sixth respectively, both recording career-bests. Mobley-Luke also posted a PR in the 100m hurdles, with her sixth-place 15.42 second finish.

Coming just behind Willett,
Jillian Sloane placed second in the 800 meter race, which also earned her a personal best.
Ashton Lord placed in two races—the 3000m with a time of 10:37.77 and the 1500m with a time of 4:56.74, both of which earned her career bests. On top of her record-breaking steeple, Parker placed fourth in the 3000m.

In sprints,
Desiree Blunt placed in second,
Chasin Gladdis placed in fourth and
Tatiyana Rayford placed in seventh in the 100 meter dash. Blunt and Rayford earned a personal best while Gladdis scored her best time this season.
Asha Stegall took second in the 400m while Breanna Thorton came in fifth which was a career best for her clocking in at 58.54 seconds.

The Eagles placed three in the triple jump and in the discus throw, with Walker,
Nia Hill and
Twandalette Cotton paving the way in the triple jump and Owens,
Alexis Gant and
Kelsey Arnold representing in the discus. Hill placed in third just behind Walker (11.75m) to tally a career-best mark of 11.69 meters. Along with Owens who took the gold, Gant's second-place finish was good for a personal best (41.36m).

In the shot put, Owens recorded yet another career best with a throw of 14.17 meters, while Arnold placed in third. Arnold's 51.75 meter hammer throw put her in second.
"It was a really positive meet for us," Carter said. "We look forward to building on it at Auburn next weekend."
The team travels to Auburn, Alabama to compete in the War Eagle Invite next Saturday, before going to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
