ESPN Personality to Speak in Statesboro

LaChina Robinson will address Women’s Sports Programs at Georgia Southern University

ESPN announcer and former NCAA student-athlete LaChina Robinson will be visiting Georgia Southern University on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

Like Georgia Southern's female student-athletes, Robinson is no stranger to waking up earlier and working hard not only on the field, but also off of the field. Her extraordinary commitment to developing positive views of women in sports is nothing short of inspiring. Georgia Southern female student-athletes are invited to hear Robinson's empowering words, as well as the ins and outs of the women's professional sports world.

Georgia Southern Athletics is dedicated to enhancing student-athlete's educational success by affording opportunities for professional and personal involvement with athletic role-models. By sharing her experiences as a female-student athlete, Robinson hopes to provide teachable moments in which GS female student-athletes and coaches can gain insight on the glory and the struggles of female athletes. She also hopes to share advice on breaking into in the professional sports realm and empower female-student athletes.

Robinson serves as a basketball analyst and reporter, both in-game and in studio, across various television networks including ESPN, Fox and NBA TV for Turner Sports. Her work in professional sports as a reporter and analyst spans a wide range of WNBA and NBA events including regular season games, the playoffs, draft coverage and media days. On the collegiate side, Robinson has worked as an analyst during the NCAA Women's Championship for the last seven years as well as the ACC, SEC, and Big East Conference Tournaments on ESPN. Robinson is also the lead analyst on the Big East Women's Basketball package for Fox Sports 1 and is the host of espnW's new podcast "Around The Rim."

Robinson began her career in athletic administration at Georgia Tech where she served in various capacities, including Director of Operations and Special Assistant to the Head Coach. In 2007, she graduated from the NCAA Leadership Institute and also served as a facilitator for several regional and national leadership conferences on behalf of the NCAA. In 2008, Robinson became Founder and CEO of her own consulting company "Stretch Beyond" through which she serves as a media trainer, host and keynote speaker for collegiate athletics programs, professional teams and non-profit organizations.

Robinson was a student-athlete at Wake Forest University where she achieved All-ACC recognition as a student-athlete and starting center for the women's basketball team. In 2015, she was inducted into the inaugural "Alexandria City Public School's Athletic Hall of Fame" in her hometown of Alexandria, Virginia. Robinson has also been appointed to several boards and voting panels including the Wake Forest Athletic Advisory Council, the ACC Blue Ribbon Panel, the Allstate "Good Works" Committee, the WNBA Awards Panel, The Naismith Trophy voters group, as well as an AP Poll and All-America Team voter.
