STATESBORO, Ga.- After being on the road for the past two weeks, the Georgia Southern men's tennis team returns home on Tuesday for a dual match against Mercer. The match begins at 3 p.m. at the Wallis Tennis Complex.
"Mercer is a good team. They are on a winning streak and those teams are always tough, because they will have a lot of confidence coming into the match," head coach
Sander Koning said.Â
The Eagles have won the past three matches on the road, beating USC Upstate 6-1 most recently.
Dani Casablancas, who clinched the doubles point and the match point on Saturday holds an eight match winning streak at the No.4 position.
"I believe the team is ready for the test against Mercer, and they will challenge each other. We see this as another opportunity to get better and get ourselves ready for the conference tournament, which is less than a month away."
Mercer carries a 7-11 season record but has also won four consecutive matches as of late. The Eagles, who are 12-5 themselves, have faced three common opponents with the Bears—Kennesaw State, Winthrop and Jacksonville State.
The Blue and White won 4-2 against the Owls while Mercer dropped 6-1 to KSU. However, both teams lost 3-4 to Winthrop and won to Jacksonville State (Mercer 5-2, GS 6-1).
UP NEXT The Eagles then travel to Charleston, South Carolina to take on the Citadel on Saturday before playing four consecutive home matches, including the only two conference opponents on the schedule—Georgia State and Appalachian State.
