HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Yeji Shinn shot a 74, tied for the second-lowest round of the day, and the Georgia Southern women's golf team finished fourth Sunday at the Bearcat Classic at El Campeon Golf Course.

It's the best finish of the season for the Georgia Southern program, which is in its first campaign. Shin tied for 18th for her best career finish and Iben Hvass, who shot an 80 today, tied for 12th for her third top-20 outing.

Ansley Bowman and Ariana Macioce both carded an 81. Taylor Thompson finished with a 91, and Annie Swords, who played as an individual, carded an 88. Bowman tied for 25th, and Macioce tied for 31st.

Tournament host Cincinnati (+65) shot a 303 today to win the team title, and Akron (+81) took second. Jacksonville (+83) placed third, four strokes ahead of Georgia Southern (+87). Cincinnati's Tara Liebert (+5) posted a 71 today, the only under-par round of the tournament, to take medalist honors.

The story
Shin was even through her first seven holes of the day with a birdie on hole 3. The freshman played the back nine 2-over with a birdie on hole 14 before parring holes 1 and 2, her final two holes of the day. Hvass played the back nine 2-over and birdied the 18th, her final hole of the day. Bowman played the front nine 3-over with a birdie on hole 8, while Macioce made birdie on hole 13 and played the back nine 2-over.

Quotable from head coach Emily Kuhfeld
"Today was our first time being in the final group and being in contention this season. We got off to a slower start again but had a few of the girls turn their rounds around and end up contributing to the team effort. Yeji played very well today, and Iben had another top-20 finish."
