Walker Earns First Place in Long Jump at Indoor Conference Champs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- After Day One of the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, the Georgia Southern track and field team qualified four to compete in the finals on Tuesday. In addition, Jasmin Walker earned first-place accolades in the long jump and Kelsey Arnold boasted a seventh-place finish in weight throw.

Along with winning the long jump, Walker was also one of eight in the conference to move to Day Two in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.57 seconds, good for fifth. In the 60 meter hurdles, Tatiyana Rayford also found success, scoring a career-best 8.71 second finish to put her in sixth place.

For the 800 meter run, two Eagles advanced. Bailey Willett placed sixth while Jillian Sloane followed right after in seventh. Asha Stegall was one spot away from qualifying for the 400 meter dash but was just .09 seconds short which placed her in ninth.
