Members of the Roundball Club enjoyed the perks of being a member of the GATA Club at the Men's Basketball Alumni Day on Saturday, Jan. 16. Men's Basketball alumni gathered to participate in a variety of exclusive events in conjunction with the Georgia Southern basketball game on January 16, 2016
Itinerary for the day included a variety of exclusive, complimentary events. Roundball Club members started their morning shooting hoops in a shoot-around with current basketball team members as they prepared for their upcoming game. Next, alumni visited the Ted Smith Family Football Center for a personal tour and updates on future plans for basketball facilities. Afterwards, alumni feasted on a complimentary, pre-game meal with the team and coaching staff at Statesboro's RJ's Seafood & Steaks.
The meal was followed watching both the men's and women's basketball games versus the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Both games included finger foods and beverages in the 6th Man Club hospitality area. During halftime of the men's game, the alumni were formally recognized. The night concluded with a private bowling after-party in Statesboro's Clubhouse for the alumni and their families.
Bill McNair, alumni and former basketball athlete, was excited about the red-carpet treatment received. "The staff and the players made us feel welcomed and stayed engaged all day. The event was well organized and made me proud to be an Eagle. Hopefully each of the former players and coaches will join the Roundball GATA Club so that next year's event will be bigger and better." said McNair.
Men's Basketball Alumni Association, better known as the Roundball Club, aims to raise funds for the betterment of the Men's Basketball program. Events like the Men's Basketball Alumni Day allow the alumni to stay connected and stay updated on their successes.
Women's basketball alumni can also enjoy similar perks during the upcoming Women's Basketball Alumni Weekend from Friday, Feb. 19 – Saturday, Feb. 20. (RSVP)
