STATESBORO, Ga. – In May 2017 the Sun Belt Conference's top 10 teams will contest the 39th Sun Belt Baseball Tournament in Statesboro on Jack Stallings Field at J.I. Clements Stadium. The six-day tournament features a new format in 2017 with an additional day of action. Tickets for the tournament are available now at GSEagles.com/Tickets.

For the first time since 1994, the Sun Belt Conference will return to divisional play. The league is split into two six-team divisions which with divisional championships awarded at the end of the regular season against all teams. The division champions earn the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the tournament with the remaining eight slots based off winning percentage in conference play.

Georgia Southern is joined in the East Division by Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, South Alabama and Troy. The West Division features Arkansas State, Little Rock, Louisiana, ULM, UT Arlington and Texas State.

With the introduction of divisions comes the addition of a preliminary round on Tuesday, May 23rd. The No. 8 and No. 9 seeds and the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds will play a single elimination game to reach the double elimination portion of the tournament which starts on Wednesday, May 24th.

The Eagles went undefeated through the first three rounds of the 2016 Sun Belt Tournament to book a spot in the Championship Game. The Eagles are hungry to avenge last year's loss in the Championship Game to Louisiana. With a recent series victory over the defending national champions, Coastal Carolina, the Eagles are heading in the right direction.
