MIAMI, FLA. – Georgia Southern Swimming & Diving took a break from its training trip for an afternoon meet against Florida International. After two days of training in Key Largo, the Eagles returned to the mainland for Thursday's meet against the Panthers. Georgia Southern returns to the training pool before breaking camp and returning to Statesboro on Saturday.
Georgia Southern tallied four event wins on Thursday behind fast swims from
Courtney Schaefer (200 Free),
Kaylyn Thomas (200 Fly)
Amber Cortazzo (500 Free) and
Bre Stuart (200 Breast). The Eagles also tallied 1-2 finishes in the 200 Fly and 500 Free.
"Today was a really good day for us," said Head Coach
Laura Thomas. "We are in the middle of a very tough training camp, and I was really happy with our swims here. Our girls are tired and sore, but they still came out and raced really well. Our divers also performed well.
Markiyah Davis had the best collegiate meet of her career. She was able to increase her degree of difficulty by adding new dives."
