STATESBORO, Ga. - The men's tennis team will travel to Mercer this weekend to compete in the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic to kick off their 2016-2017 season. This will be first of four tournaments the Eagles will compete in before the spring season begins.
The field consists of Mercer, Florida Southern, Alabama State, Georgia State, Middle Georgia, Berry, Point, East Carolina University, and Georgia College.
This will be the first time the Eagles take the court this season. The Eagles are made up of two seniors in
Dani Casablancas and
Christian Kerrigan, Juniors
JC Alcala,
Artemie Amari and
Eddie Landin, Sophomores
Adam Brown,
Andre Johnson, and
Evan Pelavin, and Freshman
Diego Finkelstein,
Murphy McCullough, and
Santiago Suarez.
Eight of the 11 Eagles are attending the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic this weekend. They will

Adam Brown,
Diego Finkelstein, Stantiago Suarez, and
Artemie Amari. The doubles teams will consist of Casablancas with Finkelstein, Alcala with Landin, Amari with Suarez, and Brown with McCullough.
"After about a month of practice I have seen a lot of growth in these guys." said head coach
Sander Koning "It is an exciting time where we get to see these young guys play in their first collegiate matches, and get some experience against some new opponents other than their own teammates. We are looking forward to kicking off the season at our first tournament this weekend."
