Employees of Sheridan Construction
Sheridan Construction, located in Macon, Georgia and founded in 1947, is Georgia Southern University Athletic Foundation's first construction company endowment.
The generous $100,000 endowment is open to all construction majors, but will alternate annually between a student and student-athlete. Sheridan's goal is to support females and minorities in the leadership positions within the construction industry.
Sheridan's mission statement, "we will give back to the community, the good fortune that it has given the company and we will encourage our employees to do likewise" is exemplified through the philanthropic donations the company has gifted to Georgia Southern University and Athletics.
One employee that is active in many civic endeavors is Ronny Williams, CEO of Sheridan Construction. Williams is a 1971 Georgia Southern graduate with a degree in Industrial Management. He is an avid donor and fan to our Athletics program for over thirty years. Sheridan's endowment was encouraged by Williams pride in his degree and passion for Georgia Southern University and athletics.
The connection between the construction company, the student and student-athlete is a very unique connection. Sheridan Construction wanted to make a difference in the lives of Georgia Southern University's students and student-athletes.
In a recent interview, Williams said with this being Sheridan's first scholarship to Georgia Southern University, he hopes the students realize they are being supported by the University and its alumni. He stated that he wanted companies in the construction industry to hire students graduating from the Construction Management program because they are so well rounded and prepared.
Sheridan Construction is greatly recognized and appreciated for the efforts to enhance the educational and personal lives of students and student-athletes at Georgia Southern.
The Athletic Foundation's goal ties in with the goal of Sheridan Construction. "Take care of those who give you work and take care of those who do the work" is the mission of Sheridan and the $100,000 gift will certainly be beneficial to the future leaders of the construction industry.
