STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern will honor the school's first bowl championship football team at halftime of the men's basketball game Saturday, and the GoDaddy Bowl Championship Trophy will be on display during the women's game and through the first half of the men's contest.

The Eagle basketball teams play host to ULM in a doubleheader in Hanner Fieldhouse. The women's game tips off at 2:30 p.m., the men take the court at 5 p.m. and both games will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

It's Frank Kerns night, and
Georgia Southern will honor the former men's basketball coach prior to the tipoff of the men's game. Kerns passed away last Aug. 3 at the age of 82. His wife, Susan, will be part of the pregame ceremony.

The four-time Trans America Athletic Conference Coach of the Year led the Eagles to five postseason appearances – three in the NCAA Tournament (1983, 1987, 1992) and two in the NIT (1988, 1989). His teams won four TAAC regular-season conference championships, and he posted a 244-132 record in 13 seasons from 1981-1994.

Kerns' winning percentage of .650 is the best among Eagle coaches in the Division I era. He coached Jeff Sanders and Michael Curry, both of whom have their jerseys hanging in the rafters of Hanner Fieldhouse. Kerns also served as the color analyst for men's basketball games on the Georgia Southern Radio Network for eight seasons.
