Eagles journey to Oxford for October 8, 2016 game
STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern added another game to its future schedules, agreeing to play Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on October 8, 2016. The Eagles will face a Southeastern Conference opponent in two of the next three seasons with a game at Georgia November 21, 2015, and then facing the Rebels in Oxford, Miss., the following year.
"We are lining up great out-of-conference schedules for Georgia Southern and opportunities to play in front of Eagle fans throughout the nation," said Director of Athletics Tom Kleinlein. "With attractive matchups like this one, as well as those we have already put in place for next year and future years, we're continuing to position our program and our University for national exposure."
Georgia Southern picked up its first-ever win against a BCS institution, and victory over an SEC team, with its 26-20 win over Florida in the 2013 season finale. Two other teams from the state of Mississippi have played Georgia Southern previously with the Eagles winning a 1985 home playoff game over Jackson State 27-0, and topping Mississippi College 30-0 at Paulson Stadium in 1992.
The Eagles kick off their upcoming season, their first in the FBS, at N.C. State on August 30th, and unveil the newly expanded Paulson Stadium Sept. 6th vs. Savannah State.
Season tickets for the Eagles' 2014 campaign go on sale online at GSEagles.com/tickets at 12:01 a.m. May 1st. The Athletics Ticket Office will begin taking calls for new season ticket purchases at 1-800-GSU-WINS beginning at 8:30 a.m. that day. Tickets may also be purchased at all Coaches' Caravan events.
