Eagles face South Carolina on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Georgia Southern Softball's Saturday matinee against North Carolina was washed out following persistent rains throughout the night and morning that left the field unplayable. Despite a number of schedule changes in order to let the field dry, including the cancellation of the day's first game between UNC and Alabama, soggy conditions ruled the day.
The Eagles finish the weekend with an 0-1 record, dropping a 6-4 decision to No. 6 Alabama. The Eagles led early and tied the game in both the sixth and seventh innings. Ultimately, a walk-off home run handed the win to the Crimson Tide.
It was popular weekend at the Anderson Softball Stadium with the stadium attendance record falling in the opening game between Georgia Southern and Alabama. The attendance record only stood for a couple hours with Friday's night cap re-setting the attendance record with over 2,000 fans at the ballpark.
The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday evening against South Carolina. The Eagles and Gamecocks get underway at 6 p.m.
