Open Letter from Head Coach Jeff Monken

Eagle Nation,
With the exciting things happening with the move to the FBS and the opportunities and benefits we will enjoy as a program and a university in the future, it is important that we also make the most of our opportunity to honor our senior class.
This senior class is special. They have accomplished things that are unique to FCS football over their tenure as football players at Georgia Southern.They are the only senior class in the FCS to play in the last three Final Fours/semifinals and are second only to North Dakota State for most victories during that three year span.
Our program, our fans and everyone associated with Georgia Southern football owe much thanks and appreciation to our seniors for what they have done to help propel our program to the level that it is today. Without the success we have had as a program over the past three years, Georgia Southern may not have had the opportunity to move to the FBS.
They are a senior class that has helped raise our team GPA, graduation rate, and academic progress rate while winning back-to-back Southern Conference Championships. This senior class has the goal of winning another Southern Conference championship, whether anyone else will recognize it or not. To go 8-0 in the SoCon would make a statement about this football team and this program as well as leaving this senior class' mark in the history of Georgia Southern football.
No matter how successful the season, we are not eligible for postseason play. Our seniors have only six
games at Paulson Stadium this year. These six home games are a great opportunity for us to honor this wonderful group of young men.
My wish for these seniors is that every one of those Saturdays at Paulson is a special experience for
