Jim Riggs

James Riggs joined the rifle program as the head coach of the Georgia Southern Eagles in 2015 and recently completed his second successful season.

In 2016-17, Riggs led the Eagles to the Southern Conference Air Rifle Championship, the first in the program's short history.

Riggs is an investigator with Bulloch County Sherriff’s office and a 17-year veteran law enforcement officer. A school-trained sniper, he is a certified general instructor, specialized instructor in firearms and defensive tactics instructor, all certifications he has received from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Riggs currently teaches a civilian firearms class through the Sheriff’s office and has trained over 400 people in firearms.

The Eagles completed their fourth season of competition in 2016-17. The Georgia Southern Shooting Sports Education Center, which serves as the home of the Eagle rifle program, opened in the fall of 2015. The 30,000-square foot, state-of-the-art facility will consist of a 16-lane, 25-meter indoor archery center, a 16-lane, 25-meter firing range, two classroom/training rooms and administrative support spaces.
