Senior named league's golfer of the week
NEW ORLEANS - Brantley Baker was named the Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week, as announced Thursday. The senior put together his best performance of the fall with a 12th-place finish in tough conditions and a tougher field at the Fighting Irish Classic, posting a 72-70-69=211 at the event.
In the second round, Baker persevered through brutal winds to post six birdies en route to an even-par round. On Sunday, he shot his lowest round of the fall, shooting a 69 to shoot up the leaderboard.
Baker led the team with 12 birdies, and a 70.33 average per round as the Eagles finished sixth as a team.
The Eagles are back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the RedHawk Intercollegiate, hosted by Miami University at the prestigious Pittsburgh Field Club in Pennsylvanie.
