Beau Johnson Succeeding on the Field and In the Kitchen

Senior tight end looking to get into the restaurant business post-Georgia Southern

STATESBORO - Beau knows brunch.

And by the looks of Beau Johnson’s social media posts....he knows breakfast, lunch and dinner too.

“I’m really not a recipe guy. I just go off feeling.”

His feelings...well, they’re delicious.

“I’m getting a lot of positive reactions from the videos,” says Johnson. “A lot of folks keep asking when I’m cooking for them.”

On the field, the Georgia Southern tight end is known to make big play, but in his downtime, he’s making big plates. Johnson’s hobby is cooking.

On this July morning, Johnson is whipping up Red Velvet French Toast, eggs, sausage and bacon.

“I enjoy anything red velvet so I thought I would give it a try,” adds Johnson.

Johnson says his grew up in the kitchen, watching, learning from his parents.

“I grew up with my mom cooking a lot,” explains Johnson. “She’s from the Bahamas so she did a lot of Caribbean stuff. My dad is from Florida and I got the country side from him.”

On Saturday’s in the fall Beau looks forward to bringing Eagle Nation to their feet. In the kitchen, he also aims to please.

“I’m a people pleaser,” laughs Johnson. “I just love seeing people enjoy my food.”

Beau hopes his hobby someday turns into a successful business.

“I’d love to open a restaurant with a Caribbean-Soul Food mix,” explains Johnson. “It would give me the chance to showcase my heritage.”
