STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team won 6-1 over the UAB Blazers on Sunday in Birmingham, AL. The Eagles snapped a three-match losing streak against the Blazers with the win.

The afternoon began with the doubles matches, where Pol del Castillo and Laurent Julia Calac fell 6-3 at the No. 3 position to open the afternoon. However, Tao Castillo and Alex Suk fought in their match and won 7-5 in a close match at the No. 2 position. At the No. 1 position, Alexandros Roumpis and Valentin Dun needed a tie breaker for their match, but they clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-4) win, giving Georgia Southern a 1-0 lead on the afternoon.

The singles matches began with both Julia Calac (6-3, 6-2) and Dimitirs Paliouras (6-3, 6-1) making quick work of their opponents, giving the Eagles a strong 3-0 lead on the afternoon. The Eagles would face a minor setback with Roumpis (6-4, 6-4) falling in his match, cutting the lead to 3-1. The Eagles would sweep the remaining three matches, beginning with Dun (6-3, 6-1) clinching the fourth point and giving the Eagles the win on the day. Castillo (6-2, 7-5) and del Castillo (7-5, 3-6 1-0(7)) would take down their opponents, setting the final score at 6-1 for the Eagles.
