DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Alberte Thuesen tied for the fifth-lowest score of the day with a 71 in the second round of the Sun Belt Championship Monday at LPGA International Hills Course, and the Georgia Southern women's golf team maintained its third-place standing through 36 holes.
The Eagles (+13) are eight shots ahead of South Alabama (+21) and nine clear of fifth-place Troy (+22). Coastal Carolina (-14) shot 10-under today, the only team to shoot under par, and moved ahead of Texas State (-6) and into the lead.
Savannah Satterfield made four birdies on the day to shoot 73 and is tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard, and Thuesen moved up the board 12 spots into a tie for 12th.
Ella Ofstedahl shot a 75 and is tied for 17th, and
Emma Bell is tied for 25th after posting a 78.
Abby Newton finished with an 81.
Thuesen posted birdies at 3 and 12 and had just one blemish on her card, a bogey on 17, and Satterfield birdied three of her first four holes and added a birdie at 8 to shoot 3-under on the front.
Ofstedahl made birdie at the second and finished each side with seven consecutive pars, and Bell was 1-over through 12 after birdieing the 170-yard par 3. Newton played her first 12 holes 1-over, including nine straight pars.
A steady downpour throughout the day took its toll on the Eagles as the counters played the final three holes of the round 6-over.
