GAME PREVIEW: Eagles Head to Troy for Sun Belt Fun

Georgia Southern looking to snap two-game losing streak to Trojans

The Georgia Southern football team, now on a four-game winning streak, looks to continue its winning ways this Saturday as it travels to Troy, Alabama, to take on the Troy Trojans at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:35 p.m. (ET)/2:35 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcast online through ESPN+. The game will also be available via radio on the Georgia Southern Sports Network. Facts Maybe Only We Find Interesting: Georgia Southern and Troy have met 18 times on the gridiron with the Trojans holding a 12-6 lead in the series that dates back to 1934 … Outside linebackers coach Jeremy Rowell spent 15 seasons at Troy, including the final six as the defensive coordinator … From 2006-2010, the Trojans won the Sun Belt Conference title outright or shared the title each of those five seasons … Rowell also led Troy to a 19-3 regular season record as a starting quarterback in 1994 and 1995 … The last time the Eagles played at Troy, it was then interim head coach Chad Lunsford's first game at the helm … Cornerback Monquavion Brinson set a new Sun Belt Conference career record for passes defended with three pass break ups at App State and now has 37, moving past Blaise Taylor of Arkansas State, who had 36 from 2014-17 … Georgia Southern is the only FBS program that has six different players who have recorded a 100-yard rushing game this season: Wesley Kennedy III, J.D. 10: Georgia Southern and Troy have met 10 times in the Eagles' modern era (since 1982) with Troy leading 7-3 in the span. The Eagles have won four of the past six games, however.
9: Nine different players have scored at least one touchdown for the Eagles this season.

7: Wesley Kennedy III has seven rushing touchdowns, and eight total, in the four games he's played this season. He's also rushed for more than 115 yards in each of the past three games and has become the first Eagle with three straight games of two+ rushing touchdowns since Matt Breida had four straight in 2015.
