Volleyball Home Opener Moved to GS Armstrong Campus

The Eagles will play host to North Florida in Alumni Arena Sept. 4.

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern volleyball has moved its home opening match against North Florida Sept. 4 to Alumni Arena in the Armstrong Sports Center on the University's Armstrong campus in Savannah. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m., and admission is free. It will be the first intercollegiate competition on Georgia Southern's Armstrong Campus for an Eagle athletic team.

"It's a great opportunity to play in front of our students and fans in Savannah," said Georgia Southern coach Dustin Wood. "We're excited to show them what Georgia Southern volleyball is all about, and we hope to have a great atmosphere for the match and make it a tough environment for North Florida."

GS returns four starters to the 2018 team, while North Florida finished 13-19 and placed fifth in the A-SUN a season ago. The Ospreys return eight student-athletes to the 2018 roster.

"It's a tremendous opportunity to bring an athletic event to the Armstrong campus," said Director of Athletics Tom Kleinlein. "We're looking forward to seeing our students and our fans in the Savannah area come out and support our team."

The Eagles play an exhibition match against Anderson Aug. 16 in Hanner Fieldhouse at 6 p.m. before opening the regular season at the West Virginia Invitational August 24-25, where they face Wright State and UConn along with the host Mountaineers.

Season tickets for the Eagles' 12 home matches in Hanner Fieldhouse are $40, and single-match tickets are $5-8 and $3-5 for youth ages 4-12. Group tickets for groups of 15 or more are available for $3 each and must be purchased prior to game day.
