The penultimate weekend of the 2018 regular season starts on Friday Night at 6:30 p.m. (CT) / 7:30 p.m. (ET). The Eagles are tied for second in the East Division with South Alabama entering the final six games of the regular season.

- Georgia Southern makes its second trip to Jonesboro since joining the Sun Belt Conference this weekend. The Eagles are tied for second in the East Division with South Alabama would enter the Sun Belt Tournament as the No. 4 seed if the season ended today.

- Georgia Southern leads the all-time series with the Red Wolves by a 6-4 margin, taking all three weekend series 2-1. The Eagles won the 2016 series in Jonesboro by winning the Friday night game on a blustery evening, dropping game two and winning the finale.
- Defensively the Eagles not had the greatest season, ranking 11th in the Sun Belt with a .963 fielding percentage. The story behind the number was an injury to shortstop
Austin Thompson which forced him to miss 27 games. The Eagles fielded at a .956 average without Thompson, committing 42 errors. With Thompson, the Eagles have raised that mark to .971, conceding just 22 errors in the 21 games he has played.
- After sustaining an injury in the second game of the season,
Tyler Martin missed the next 33 games. He made his return on April 17th against the College of Charleston. He hit his first home run of the season on Saturday, April 21st with a solo home run to left.
- Through the season's first 47 games, Georgia Southern batters have been hit by 72 pitches to lead the Sun Belt and rank 25th in the nation.
Steven Curry has been hit 19 times to rank 12th in the nation and tops in the Sun Belt while
Christian Avant has worn 14 pitches to rank third in the league and 43rd in Division I.

Brian Eichhorn was one with the force on May 4, tossing a complete game, one-hit shutout to stymie Troy, the league's top hitting team entering the series. Brian fanned nine and walked just one while taking his no-hitter bid to the seventh inning, before the Trojans only hit, a single through the left side. The one-hitter was the first for the Eagles since five pitchers combined for a one-hitter in February of 2001 against Tennessee Tech.

Jacob Parker exited his first collegiate game on February 20 in the second game with an injury. He gave up just one run and was saddled with the loss that day. On May 9, Parker returned to the game mound at Kennesaw State, tossing three no-hit innings to earn his first collegiate win.
- Six has been the magic number over the last five years for Georgia Southern Baseball with a 115-16 record when scoring six or more runs. The Eagles were 30-6 last year with six or more.
