Georgia Southern and Synovus Celebrate Local Educators with “Here’s to Teachers” Campaign

A Teacher of the Game will be selected for each GS home football game

STATESBORO, Ga.--- Georgia Southern University and Synovus/Sea Island Bank are celebrating educators with a "Here's to Teachers" campaign during the Eagles' upcoming football season. A "Synovus Teacher of the Game" will be honored at each of the Eagles' five home football games, with recognition on Paulson Stadium's video board and Georgia Southern's social media platforms.

Students can nominate a teacher, past or present, by submitting one to three paragraphs answering the question, "How has this teacher made a difference in your life?" Entries may be submitted via email to jennalawson@seaislandbank.com with the subject line of "#herestoteachers" or in writing at any Synovus/Sea Island Bank location. Entries must be received by midnight, August 31. Fourth through twelfth grade students at any public or private school are invited to nominate a teacher.

Each "Synovus Teacher of the Game" will receive game day tickets and Bishop Pregame Social passes. "Here's to Teachers" will culminate with the final Eagles home game on November 18, when all five teachers will be honored on the field at half-time.

"We are excited to partner with Synovus for this opportunity to showcase some of the many talented and influential educators we have working in this area," said College of Education Dean Thomas Koballa, Ph.D. "It is vital that we take the time to honor those who choose a career in teaching as they are providing the foundation in which all knowledge is built for the future of this state, country and even world."
Last year, Synovus/Sea Island Bank received more than 500 entries when it asked local students to write about a teacher who had a significant impact on a student's life. "The words of the students proved what we already know: Teachers matter — to students, the community, and the future," said Kim Brannen, Senior Vice President at Synovus/Sea Island Bank. "We couldn't be more excited to partner with Georgia Southern University Athletics and the College of Education to honor teachers in this way."
