STATESBORO, GA. - Georgia Southern sophomore designated hitter Tyler Martin has been selected Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference by a vote of the league's head coaches. A native of Acworth, Georgia, Martin has a .282 average this season with eight home runs. In Sun Belt play, Martin leads the Eagles with a .340 average.

Martin, who earned a spot on the team through fall walk-on tryouts, slugged .492 with 20 of his 50 hits going for extra bases. The sophomore has driven in 40 runs this season, ranking second on the team. 25 of Georgia Southern's 36 wins this season have come with Martin at the DH position. He has started 32 of the last 33 games at the position including each of the last 12 contests to close the regular season.

Georgia Southern enters the 2017 Sun Belt Baseball Championship as the No. 5 seed, opening tournament play on Wednesday night against No. 4 Louisiana. The Eagles took two of three from the Ragin' Cajuns this season and own a 36-20 overall record. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the final game of Wednesday's docket of four games.

Fans can enjoy the Georgia National Guard Fan Fair between Clements Stadium and Hanner Fieldhouse. The festival area features carnival rides including a 47-foot Ferris Wheel, food trucks and stands from local and national brands, inflatable games and a stage featuring music from Statesboro's Chris Mitchell Band. The fair is open from 2-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Noon-9 p.m. nightly throughout the tournament.
