STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Baseball team returns home after a weekend series sweep of the UALR Trojans to host #20 College of Charleston in the first of four games at J.I. Clements Stadium this week.
The Eagles (24-16) are seeking their first mid-week win since March 25 when they defeated Jacksonville 9-4. GS is 16-7 at home this season and dropped the first meeting against the Cougars (27-9) 11-0 on April 7.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN3 and the Georgia Southern Radio Network.
GS is hitting .272 as a squad.
Aaron Mizell leads the team with a .327 batting average and was 7 for 14 with two doubles and two home runs last week. The senior outfielder leads the squad with 12 doubles and 12 home runs.
Kody Adams and
Chase Griffin are both hitting over .300 on the season. Adams has scored 29 runs and tallied 10 doubles, while Griffin has eight doubles and five home runs on the season.
The Eagle pitching staff holds a 3.81 ERA with 278 strikeouts compared to 158 walks.
Jason Richman picked up two wins on the weekend and tossed five innings over two appearances against UALR.
Head Coach
Rodney Hennon will send Colton Ramsey to the mound on Tuesday. Ramsey is 0-0 with a 10.80 ERA in two appearances and one start this season. Ramsey started against the Dolphins on March 25 and allowed one earned run over two innings.
The Cougars are hitting .316 as a team. Blake Butler leads the squad with a .372 batting average. Carl Wise has a team best 10 home runs, while Nick Pappas leads the team with 17 doubles.
