STORYLINES
  • Georgia Southern is looking to get back on track in Southern Conference play when they travel to Furman for a three-game series this weekend.
  • The Eagles are just 3-7 in their last 10 games and have dropped three-straight SoCon series to UNCG, Samford and Wofford.
  • GSU is a win better than their 2013 counterpart, who finished the season 27-32, and needs just two more victories to reach 30 wins.
  • Two more victories would give Head Coach Rodney Hennon his 16th season with 30 or more victories and would be the 14th 30+ win season in the last 15 years for Georgia Southern. 
  • The Eagles are just 9-10 on the road this season after a mid-week loss to Kennesaw State on Wednesday. GSU is 6-6 in road Southern Conference games, including a series sweep of The Citadel at Joe Riley Park.
  • GSU ranks third in the SoCon with a .296 batting average and leads the league with a 3.40 ERA.
  • The Eagles are hitting  just .254 in league play, compared to their .296 overall batting average.
  • The Eagles dropped the season series two games to one in Statesboro a year ago but defeated Furman 3-2 in the second game of the 2013 Southern Conference Tournament in Greenville, S.C.

  • Georgia Southern holds a 53-36 in the 89 all-time series against the Furman Paladins.

  • The Georgia Southern Eagles rank third in the SoCon with a .296 batting average and lead the league with a 3.40 ERA.
  • GSU ranks in the top three in the conference in batting average (.296), slugging pct. (.442) and on-base percentage (.380).
  • The Eagles lead the league in runs scored (332), hits (484), RBI (296), home runs (47), walks (197) and total bases (723).
  • The pitching staff leads the league in ERA (3.40), innings pitched (413.0), pick offs (11), runs allowed (210) and triples allowed (5).
  • GSU walked six times on Wednesday and has drawn six or more walks in their last three games. The Eagles tied a season high with 11 walks in the series finale at Wofford.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Garrett Chapman is seeking to become the first freshman since 1984 to lead the team in batting average. Chapman currently is hitting a team-best .356.
  • Chapman leads the team with 18 multi-hit games, while Stryker Brown is the team leader with 11 multi-RBI games.
  • Aaron Mizell leads the team with 11 home runs and is third on the squad with a .311 batting average.
  • Stryker Brown has never hit better than .257 in a full season but is second on the team with a .329 average in 2014.
  • Brown led the team with a .353 batting average during the month of April. Brown hit two doubles, tow home runs and walked nine times in 15 games.
  • Stryker Brown has reached base in 12-straight games.
  • Ben Morgan is eight for 17 in his last four games and has tallied two doubles, a triple and four RBI in starts against Wofford and Kennesaw State. Morgan also needs just three more stolen bases to crack the career top-10 list.
  • Ben Morgan has a hit in his last five games.
  • Chase Griffin has a career-high 12 doubles this season.
  • Jason Richman has an 0.46 ERA in his last 11 appearance on the mound. Richman has allowed just one earned run over his last 19.2 innings. Richman also needs just one more appearances to crack the season top-10 list.
