Pro Eagle Update: Roache Homers in Debut

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Weekly Pro Eagle report will highlight the careers of former Georgia Southern baseball players in the professional ranks. Victor Roache's return to baseball highlights this week's update.

A.J. Battisto (New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A) – 0-0, 7.20 ERA, 6 SO
The oldest active professional Eagle, A.J. Battisto, made his first start of the season and threw four scoreless innings against Memphis. Battisto also made a relief appearance last Tuesday and allowed two runs over 2.1 innings.

Chris Beck (Winston-Salem Dash, Class A Advanced) – 2-1, 0.00 ERA, 14 SO
The Chicago White Sox farm hand tossed eight scoreless innings in a start against Wilmington. Chris Beck allowed just four hits and struck out five to earn his second win of the season. Beck extended his streak without allowing an earned run to 18.2 innings.

Jacob Brown (Stockton Ports, Class A Advanced) – 1-0, 2.77 ERA, 19 SO
Jacob Brown made three relief appearances last week and allowed two runs over six innings. Brown started the week with 2.1 scoreless innings at San Jose. He struck out four batters but allowed two runs on three hits in his second appearance against Modesto. Brown came back with 1.2 scoreless innings against Modesto on Monday.

Andy Moye (Huntsville Stars, Double-A) – 1-0, 4.61 ERA, 15 SO
Andy Moye, who is in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system, has made three starts for the Huntsville Stars and is 1-0 with a 4.61 ERA. Moye bounced back after allowing six runs to Jacksonville to hold Tennessee to two runs over five innings.

Victor Roache (Wiscon Timber Rattlers, Class A) – .333, 1 HR, 3 RBIs
The 2012 first round pick returned to the field for the first time since the 2012 season and homered in his first game as a professional. Victor Roache made his debut on April 21, 421 days after injuring his wrist on Feb. 25, 2012 against Radford.

Shawn Payne (San Jose Giants, Class A Advanced) – .290, 1 HR, 4 RBIs, 6 SBs
Shawn Payne had a nine-game hit streak snapped on Saturday but had eight hits last week. Payne started the week with two hits and two runs scored against Visalia. He had a hit in all three games against Stockton before opening the series against Island Empire with two hits and two runs scored. Payne stole his sixth base of the season in game two against the 66ers.
Home Run

Everett Teaford (Omaha Storm Chasers, Triple-A) – 1-0, 3.86 ERA, 8 SO
After making his first start of the season on April 13, Everett Teaford returned to the bullpen on Saturday. Teaford allowed one hit over a scoreless frame at Nashville. Teaford is 1-0 on the season with a 3.86 ERA in five games for the Kansas City Royals Triple-A Affiliate.
