At the time of his original nomination to the Hall of Fame, he was the winningest pitcher in the school's history, then named Georgia Teacher's College... During his senior season in 1958, he pitched a team-high 85.1 innings and recorded the staff's lowest earned run average at 2.85... He also established a then-school record for single-season wins with seven... During his junior season, he helped guide the Professors to a District III at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament before reaching the semi-finals behind Florida State University and Duke University... Wins from his exciting junior season along with his first two years and his record-setting senior campaign enabled him to post a GTC-record 21 career wins... In addition to setting a school career mark for most wins, he also captured the program's all-time strikeout record with 163.
